Sign the Boycott Pledge! Boycott the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China!

Whereas, the People’s Republic of China has a long and extensive record of human rights abuses against many of its citizens, including but not limited to those living in Tibet, those seeking true religious freedom and those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT); and

Whereas, the People’s Republic of China has refused to take action on correcting its long-standing human rights abuses; and

Whereas, the People’s Republic of China continues to endanger the lives and welfare of its citizens; and

Whereas, the Olympics — as originally established in the same society and culture which gave birth to the ideals of democracy, pluralism, freedom and conscience — should be a symbol of the strength and dignity of the human soul; and

Whereas, the Olympics’ events in China run counter to its thousands-years-old history; therefore…

I pledge to Boycott the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing by:

  • Refraining from watching any televised events from the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing;
  • Refraining from purchasing anything which promotes the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing;
  • Refraining from purchasing products made in China;
  • Contacting my U.S. House of Representatives member and urging him or her to support H.R. 610, Supporting a U.S. Boycott of the 2008 Olympics (read the resolution).

    I will boycott and promote the boycott of China’s sponsorship and companies who sponsor or endorse sponsorship of this blatant affront to the spirit of the Olympics, the citizens of China (and seized/occupied nations) and the world. The Olympic Committee should be censured long and loudly by the world, especially by the athletes who have placed their trust and training in their hands.

    wow that does sound pretty ridiculous that they would be hosting that, but at the same time you have to think that not every country in the world is going to take on the freedom and rights that the US and so many other countries provide…. yea they don’t deserve to hold the olympics that were built upon all of these great things that they don’t follow, which is why i will boycott, but at the same time you can’t expect them to change just because not everyone agrees with them. They’ve been living in the past for ages (with many against it), and I doubt they’re going to change. like I said i will boycott because they don’t deserve to hold the olympics.

    I’m boycotting the olympics and it’s sponsors. It’d be good to see the athletes do the same; we are all responsible.

    We are morally responsible to protect each other- Save Tibet and SAVE DARFUR.

    Heck yeah! I’ve been boycotting China for (among other things) their miserable environmental track record. They have most of the top 10 most polluted cities in the world — and that pollution goes all over the world (I forget what percentage of the acid rain that falls on the west coast of the US originates in China — but it’s not good!).

    I refuse to buy the sponsor’s products in light of the brutal nature of the Chinese dictatorship
